Was siehst du nur in ihr, was du an mir nicht findest? Klassisches Soulthema - großartig interpretiert! Klingt gar nicht unbedingt nach New Orleans. Nach den Aufnahmen leider an Drogen verschieden, die Inell.

Raus mit der Folkgitarre, rein mit den Postpostpunkwabersounds - flächiger, sphärischer und geradliniger Remix, vom eh schon tollen LP-Track. Pretty Psychedelic!

Die neue Platte ist richtig gut geworden - aber sensationell sind die drei Bonussongs auf Seite 4, live mitgeschnitten in Blackpool im Januar 2008. Unter den vielen großartigen Besetzungen, mit denen VM schon auf hohem Niveau musiziert hat, ist die gerade aktuelle Bandzusammenstellung wohl die allerallerbeste überhaupt. Dies zeigen diese drei Bonussongs mal eben so nebenbei! 11/10

BOBBY BLAND - „St. James Infirmary"

Eigentlich ein englischer Folksong, der zu einem amerikanischen Folksong wurde. Von Louis Armstrong 1928 berühmt gemacht, über all die Jahre von Hunderten von Interpreten aufgenommen. An einer Bar bekommt der Sänger von einem Gast (Joe Mc Kennedy) erzählt, wie dieser unten im St. James-Krankenhaus seine Frau/Freundin/Geliebte tot aufgefunden hat:
„I went down to old Joe's bar room, on the corner by the square
Well, the drinks were bein' served as usual, and this motley crowd was there
Well, on my left stood Joe McKennedy, and his eyes were bloodshot red
When he told me that sad story, these were the words he said:
I went down to the St. James infirmary, I saw my baby there

Moog Magic aus Frankreich. Als der Deutsche Meister noch Mönchengladbach hieß, lief das, als Jochen Hageleit mal eben kurz in die angeschlossenen Funkhäuser zurückgab.

"If you like hillbilly music you'll like Reno and Smiley", besagen die Linernotes - damn right!

Staubiger Gesang zu trockenem Countrysingersongwriterfolk. Wenn er nicht rockt, ist er gut - wie so viele! „So, don't let me fall/'cause I might not get up again"

JOHNNY CASH - "I see a Darkness"
DLP: AmericanIII: Solitary Man (Columbia)
„And did you know how much I love You/is a hope that somehow you/will save me from this darkness" Cash im Duett mit Oldham - da ist ein kleineres Licht am Ende des Tunnels erkennbar!

BONNIE „PRINCE" BILLY" - "I see a Darkness"

Dieses Tunnel ist deutlich länger und dunkler - tolle, zerbrechliche und intensive Liveversion. Großartiger Song!
